Jakarta, May 11 (Antara) - Considering that Bali is the country's most popular tourism icon, the Indonesian government has now come up with the concept of "10 New Bali." The idea is that besides Bali, there are many other regions in Indonesia, which are equally, if not more, attractive.
The Indonesian government has described these 10 tourist destinations as "New Bali," as it is convinced that these destinations would be as pleasing and attractive as Bali.
The government is intensively promoting these tourist destinations overseas, including in China and Germany. In Frankfurt, the government showcased these new tourist destinations as convenient places to organize the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) program.
Recently in China, the Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) promoted the so-called "10 New Bali" at the Grandview Mall in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China.
The Consulate General of Guangzhou revealed this in a press release received in Jakarta on April 28.
The Ministry of Tourism of Indonesia had conducted a direct promotional program to showcase Indonesia's tourism potential at a leading mall in Guangzhou, so that local Chinese people could be given a glimpse of the tourism opportunities in Indonesia, especially the concept of "10 New Bali," which are tourist spots currently being developed on a priority basis by the government.
The Indonesian Consulate General in Guangzhou pointed out that besides the Bali Island, there were other beautiful tourist spots in the archipelago, with Raja Ampat in Papua in the east to Weh Island in the western part of Sumatra Island.
The 10 tourism destinations accorded development priority are Lake Toba (North Sumatra), Belitung (Bangka Belitung), Tanjung Lesung (Banten), the Seribu Islands (Jakarta), Borobudur Temple (Central Java), Mount Bromo (East Java), Mandalika Lombok (West Nusa Tenggara), Komodo Island (East Nusa Tenggara), Wakatobi National Park (Southeast Sulawesi), and Morotai (North Maluku).
The Indonesian tourism promotion event conducted by the Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) was supported by two dancers from the Jember Carnival, two musicians and one barista and five local tourism bureaus.
On the occasion, performances of Indonesian arts were also featured, such as sasando game, a musical instrument used in East Nusa Tenggara. In addition, a barista also demonstrated how to blend Indonesian coffee for a unique taste through an interesting presentation.
During the promotion, Kemenpar said Indonesia was ready to welcome Chinese tourists to various tourist attractions on its 13 thousand islands that are rich in culture and bio-diversity and have more than 1,000 ethnic groups.
Besides in China, Indonesia is also intensively promoting its MICE tourist destinations in other foreign countries such as in Germany.
According to Nia Niscaya, Assistant Deputy of European, Middle Eastern, American and African Market Development of the Kemenpar, as many as 16 MICE flagship destinations in Indonesia would be promoted during the IMEX Frankfurt 2017 event.
She said that Indonesia will promote 16 of its MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) tourist destinations at IMEX Frankfurt from May 16-18, 2017, in Germany.
"Indonesia is increasingly being considered as a MICE destination in the world. Indonesia offers complete themes and facilities at the centre of the city and islands resorts set in the background of culture and natural beauty, all of international service standards, at 16 MICE flagship destinations," Niscaya affirmed.
In the event, as many as 16 prominent MICE destinations of Indonesia will be showcased, namely Jakarta, Bali, Surabaya, Medan, Batam, Padang, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Semarang, Makassar, Manado, Solo, Lombok, Bintan, Palembang, and Balikpapan.
In addition, some hotels in Indonesia that are regularly listed on the list of best hotels in the world have also been included, as they are well suited to be the best-performing international event organizer.
In IMEX Frankfurt 2017, Indonesia will involve 16 MICE industry players, including three convention halls, hotels, DMCs (Destination Management Companies) and tour operators that will facilitate not just MICE events but also leisure and support programs.
Indonesia will hold a presentation on trade and business meetings at the Indonesian Pavilion in IMEX 2017.
IMEX is a world-wide exhibition of travel incentives, meetings and businesses designed to deliver business services and solutions, travel services and solutions, besides event management services and support facilities.
"On that occasion, the Ministry of Tourism and Indonesia MICE Board will provide detailed information about the benefits of holding an MICE event in Indonesia," she added.
Until now, Indonesia's readiness to host several international-scale events has been proven by a number of major events that have been held here, among them being ASEAN Summit in 2011, ASEAN Tourism Forum in 2012, APEC Summit in 2013, World Economic Forum in 2015, 60th Commemorative Asian-African Conference in 2015, and the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) in 2016.
